Abstract
This article examines the linguistic and stylistic roles of animal names in English fiction, emphasizing their contributions to characterization, symbolism, and thematic development. Beyond their literal meanings, animal names often serve metaphorical, allegorical, and cultural purposes. Through analysis of works such as George Orwell’s Animal Farm, Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, and Aesop’s Fables, the study explores how authors employ animal references to reflect human traits, critique social norms, and enrich narrative voice. The findings highlight animal names as literary devices and tools for cultural commentary.
