GENERATIVE AI IN MODERN EDUCATION: ETHICAL IMPLICATIONS AND ACADEMIC INTEGRITY. (2026). CONFERENCE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES IN SCIENTIFIC INNOVATIVE RESEARCH, 3(3), 54-61. https://universalpublishings.com/index.php/cnassir/article/view/21129

Abstract

The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence has significantly transformed contemporary education by introducing new opportunities for teaching, learning, assessment, and academic research. AI-powered systems can generate written texts, explain complex concepts, provide personalised feedback, and support independent learning. However, their increasing use has raised important ethical concerns regarding academic integrity, plagiarism, authorship, data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the reliability of AI-generated information. This article examines the role of generative AI in modern educational environments, focusing on its pedagogical benefits, ethical implications, and influence on academic standards. It explores the responsibilities of students, teachers, researchers, and educational institutions in promoting the transparent and responsible use of AI technologies. The article argues that generative AI should be integrated into education through clear institutional policies, effective digital literacy programmes, and assessment methods that emphasise critical thinking, creativity, and independent understanding. Responsible AI integration can support educational innovation while preserving the fundamental principles of academic integrity and intellectual responsibility.
