Zamonaviy dunyoda iqtisodiy o‘sish va xalqaro savdo aloqalarining jadallashuvi transport logistikasi tizimini takomillashtirishni taqozo etmoqda. Biroq, transport sohasi global iqtisodiyotning tayanchi bo‘lishi bilan bir qatorda, atrof-muhitga eng ko‘p salbiy ta’sir ko‘rsatadigan tarmoqlardan biri hisoblanadi. Global emissiyalarning salmoqli qismi aynan yuk tashish va logistika operatsiyalari hissasiga to‘g‘ri kelayotgani, iqlim o‘zgarishi va ekologik muvozanatning buzilishiga sabab bo‘lmoqda.
