So‘nggi yillarda raqamli iqtisodiyot va elektron hukumat tizimining jadal rivojlanishi hujjatlar aylanishida elektron imzodan foydalanishni kengaytirdi. Elektron imzo raqamli identifikatsiya vositasi sifatida hujjatlarning yuridik kuchini ta’minlab, ularning haqiqiyligini, yaxlitligini va inkor etib bo‘lmasligini kafolatlaydi. Tadqiqotda elektron imzo institutining huquqiy asoslari, uning O‘zbekiston Respublikasida amaldagi qonunchilikdagi o‘rni hamda xalqaro standartlar (UNCITRAL, eIDAS, ISO/IEC) bilan uyg‘unligi tahlil qilinadi.
