Abstract

This article explores the critical role of society in the learning of English as a global lingua franca. The influence of economic factors and the demand for English proficiency in the job market are analyzed, highlighting the societal incentives for learners. The article also considers societal attitudes toward English, illustrating how perceptions can motivate or hinder learning efforts.
