Genetik modifikatsiya qilingan organizmlar (GMO) zamonaviy biotexnologiyaning muhim yutuqlaridan biri sifatida qishloq xo‘jaligi, farmatsevtika va boshqa sohalarda keng qo‘llanilmoqda. Ushbu maqolada GMOning afzalliklari va salbiy ta’sirlari ilmiy nuqtai nazardan tahlil qilingan. GMO texnologiyasining hosildorlikni oshirish, oziq-ovqat xavfsizligini ta'minlash va tabiiy resurslarni tejashdagi roli ko‘rsatilgan. Shu bilan birga, GMO oziq-ovqat mahsulotlari inson salomatligi va atrof-muhitga xavf tug‘dirishi mumkinligi ham qayd etilgan. Ushbu maqola GMO texnologiyalarining foydalari va xavflarini muvozanatlash hamda ularni ekologik va iqtisodiy jihatdan xavfsiz qo‘llash imkoniyatlarini o‘rganishga qaratilgan.
