Abstract
This paper comprehensive explores the critical nexus between global climate change, escalating water scarcity, and agricultural sustainability, focusing on the development of drought-resistant transgenic plants as a pivotal strategy for global food security. Aridification and erratic weather patterns severely threaten crop yields worldwide. In response, modern biotechnology and genetic engineering offer transformative solutions beyond traditional breeding limits. This study systematically analyzes the molecular mechanisms underlying plant responses to abiotic stress, specifically focusing on the identification of osmoregulatory functional genes, signaling cascades, and transcription factors that govern drought tolerance. Furthermore, we evaluate various gene transfer methods and the integration of next-generation gene-editing technologies, such as CRISPR-Cas9 and bioinformatical modeling, which allow for precise genomic modifications without introducing foreign DNA. Beyond the laboratory frameworks, the paper critically addresses the socio-economic and agrotechnical impacts of transgenic cultivation, alongside an objective evaluation of biosafety protocols, ecological risks, and bioethical regulations. Ultimately, this research provides scientifically grounded frameworks and strategic recommendations for developing high-yielding, resilient crop varieties tailored for climate-vulnerable and semi-arid agroecosystems.
